Xapo Bank is seeking an experienced and proactive MLRO & Compliance Officer to join our global team, operating remotely within the United Kingdom. This pivotal role ensures the integrity and compliance of our financial operations, focusing on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, and sanctions prevention.
You will be instrumental in developing and managing our Compliance & Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Program, including robust monitoring, reporting, and risk assessment frameworks. Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve regulatory approval to hold official MLRO and/or Nominated Officer roles for Xapo’s UK operations.
- Monitor the regulatory landscape and conduct annual regulatory risk assessments.
- Analyze new regulatory developments and disseminate updates across the business.
- Maintain and update Compliance policies and procedures to ensure appropriate controls.
- Draft Annual and Monthly Compliance Reports.
- Maintain the AFC Framework and policies, supported by a robust Compliance Monitoring Program.
- Facilitate risk-based KYC and Transaction Monitoring programs, investigating and reporting suspicious activity.
- Oversee the operations of the AFC Compliance team, including training and performance tracking.
- Execute day-to-day operational Compliance and AFC activities, collaborating with the business to remediate issues.
- Independently investigate and act on matters related to Compliance & AFC.
- Build relationships with relevant authorities, payment schemes, and regulators.
- Support regulatory inquiries, filings, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate efforts related to audits, reviews, and examinations.
- Provide guidance, advice, and training on laws and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Extensive years of experience in banks, VASPs, complex financial services firms, or related e-money/payments industry with experience to operate at an MLRO level.
- Strong operational knowledge in building and running a sound AFC compliance program.
- Hands-on knowledge and understanding of UK regulatory requirements in accordance with global AFC standards.
- Several years of people management experience.
- Ability to build collaborative working relations with peers, colleagues, and remote teams.
- Experience with AFC system implementation, configuration, and management.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Cryptoasset experience and blockchain analytics and monitoring tools.
