Job Description
Oando Plc is seeking a dedicated Legal Attorney I to join our Corporate Legal Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive legal support and expert advice to Oando and its subsidiaries on a wide range of legal transactions, corporate projects, and daily operational matters.
Your responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing contracts, providing legal opinions, managing disputes, and ensuring compliance with local and international laws. You will also contribute to project administration, including monitoring work plans and preparing status reports.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Execute legal services for assigned transactions, adhering to best practices.
- Provide high-quality legal advice and prepare legal opinions and agreements.
- Draft, review, and summarize joint venture agreements and secure internal approvals.
- Advise employees on legal implications of policies and decisions across various practice areas.
- Keep teams updated on new laws and regulations, recommending necessary actions.
- Liaise with the governance department for counterparty checks and agreement execution.
- Collaborate with the tax department on tax compliance and transaction implications.
- Manage dispute resolution and assist in handling litigation matters.
- Liaise with external solicitors and obtain updates on ongoing cases.
- Draft and review letters, and maintain legal document archives.
- Update electronic and paper databases for the legal department.
- Ensure prompt settlement of legal bills in coordination with finance and procurement.
Qualifications
- First degree in Law with a minimum of a second-class lower division.
- 2-4 years of legal work experience in oil and gas or general law practice.
- Strong customer service orientation and interface skills.
- Ability to perform basic/general legal analysis.
- Strong and effective business communication (verbal and writing skills).
- Ability to plan and execute complex assignments under pressure.
