Job Description

Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist for its Ibese Plant. This role is integral to managing local and international procurement operations, acting as a key Category Buyer responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies.

The ideal candidate will oversee the entire procurement cycle, from identifying and negotiating with suppliers to ensuring compliance and driving cost efficiencies. This position requires a strong understanding of market dynamics, trade regulations, and effective supplier relationship management to create value and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for assigned categories, encompassing both local and international markets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle: requisition, tendering, evaluation, contract award, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking to anticipate trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable trade regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business needs and project timelines.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and documentation for audit and performance review.
  • Support continuous improvement in procurement processes, systems, and supplier management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CIPS, ISM, PPAN, NPCP, CILPM, or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of progressive procurement experience, with exposure to both local and international markets.
  • Proven expertise as a Category Buyer, managing diverse product/service categories.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and international trade practices.
  • Competencies: Strategic thinking, commercial acumen, strong organizational and project management skills, ability to work under pressure, ethical judgment, and integrity.
