Job Description
Epoch AI is seeking a dedicated Special Projects Associate to bolster our benchmarking and research teams. This role is pivotal in supporting the creation of new AI benchmarks and managing complex operational logistics for emerging research initiatives.
You will collaborate closely with our benchmarking lead to identify and engage experts across diverse fields, ensuring the quality and impact of benchmark contributions. Additionally, you'll support the data team with data security, licensing, and regulatory compliance, alongside managing various operational tasks and external communications.
This is a fully remote position, open to candidates in many countries, with a strong preference for those whose time zones overlap with North America (at least 7 work hours with UTC-4/5). You will report to the Head of Operations and work in tandem with benchmarking and data team leads.

Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation of new AI benchmarks by finding and coordinating with experts across various domains.
- Ensure benchmark contributions meet quality standards and enhance the contractor experience.
- Organize events, such as symposiums, to foster collaboration among field experts.
- Provide support for the dozens of detailed tasks required to develop successful benchmarks.
- Assist the data team with securing and licensing data, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Manage various operational tasks and external communications, including responding to audience inquiries.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated avid interest in AI developments (e.g., knowledge of GPQA Diamond, understanding of benchmark saturation challenges).
- Ability to thrive on complex challenges, own projects with unclear playbooks, and devise creative solutions.
- Proactive in seeking and incorporating feedback, and providing clear, constructive feedback to others.
- Instinctive organization and conscientiousness; ability to manage details naturally.
- Two or more years of prior work experience in roles with multiple moving parts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort in direct and empathetic communication.
- Excitement and comfort working in a fast-moving, startup-like environment.
- Motivation by Epoch AI's mission to improve humanity's understanding of AI development.
- Professional-level English proficiency.

- Annual salary between $75,000–$100,000 USD, adjusted for location and paid in local currency.
