Job Description

Yiaga Africa is seeking dedicated State Focal Persons (SFP) to join the #WatchingTheVote (WTV) Project. This part-time role is designed for individuals passionate about ensuring transparent and credible elections.

As a State Focal Person, you will play a vital role in managing election observation activities at the state level. This includes recruiting and supervising local observers, facilitating their accreditation with INEC, and ensuring smooth logistical operations for training and observation efforts.

You will also be responsible for representing Yiaga Africa within your state, engaging with key stakeholders such as INEC, civil society organizations, media, and other security agencies. Promoting the #WatchingTheVote initiative and fostering a culture of electoral integrity will be central to your responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit and manage LGA Supervisors and PU Observers within assigned locations.
  • Ensure observer participation in pre-election and Election Day activities with timely reporting.
  • Facilitate observer accreditation with INEC.
  • Support and conduct trainings/workshops for observers and supervisors.
  • Assist with logistics for training sessions.
  • Maintain regular reporting to Zonal Program Officer and WTV team.
  • Document insights, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Represent the organisation at the state level.
  • Engage INEC, civil society, media, and security stakeholders.
  • Promote the #WatchingTheVote initiative.
  • Manage funds and resources in line with organisational procedures.
  • Oversee logistics for trainings, workshops, and stakeholder activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in civic engagement, election observation, or project management.
  • Non-Partisan and apolitical.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with election stakeholders.
  • Resident in the state of application.
