Job Description

Pacifica Housing is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join their growing team. This role is integral to ensuring the quality and upkeep of affordable housing units, contributing directly to tenant satisfaction and the organization's mission.

In this position, you will be responsible for a range of maintenance tasks, including performing repairs and installations as needed. Your duties will encompass general building maintenance, such as plumbing, appliance, drywall, painting, and minor electrical work. You will also be tasked with installing and assembling residential items and ensuring units are clean and repaired upon turnover according to society specifications.

Key responsibilities include promptly reporting any safety or accident incidents, completing necessary paperwork like maintenance work orders and mileage claims, and maintaining positive relationships with staff and tenants. You will work independently to meet deadlines and report on ongoing issues and resolutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance work orders according to schedule and quality standards.
  • Carry out repairs and other maintenance activities such as plumbing, appliance, drywall, painting, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Perform residential installation and assembly, including doors and blinds.
  • Post notices as instructed, complying with the Residential Tenancy Act.
  • Clean and repair units upon turnover according to society specifications.
  • Immediately report safety or accident/injury incidents.
  • Complete required paperwork, including maintenance work orders and mileage claims.
  • Maintain cordial and cooperative relationships with staff and tenants.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines and complete assignments.
  • Report to management regarding issues resolved, needing attention, and in progress.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation.
  • Must hold a Basic First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar position, preferably in a non-profit housing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a building maintenance role.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Preferred 2 years’ experience in suite renovations/building maintenance.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in residential building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
  • General proficiency using a mobile phone for email, text, calls, and calendar management.
  • Must have trade skills including painting, drywall patching and installation, door hardware repairs, and flooring and carpentry repairs.
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability ‘business class’ insurance.
  • Must be available for the on-call roster and off-hours emergency call-outs.
