Slum2School Africa is seeking a dynamic Human Resource and Talent Development Manager to lead and refine our HR strategies and initiatives. This role is crucial for overseeing all HR operations, ensuring compliance, and driving talent management and human development within our unique, multi-cultural corporate setting.
You will be instrumental in implementing global best practices for the recruitment, engagement, management, and development of our dedicated staff and volunteers. Required Skills
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all HR functions for efficiency and provide support for the organization's mission.
- Prepare and oversee the implementation of the HR unit's annual budget and plans.
- Lead and manage the performance of HR team members.
- Build and maintain the organization’s job competency framework.
- Facilitate regular check-ins between employees and leadership.
- Support managers in managing performance, including Performance Improvement Plans and top talent development.
- Develop and lead cross-functional trainings for managers and employees.
- Implement HR processes and policies aligned with business priorities, including organizational design and change management.
- Act as the 'culture champion' to ensure employees embody Slum2School's mission and values.
- Lead recruitment efforts throughout the hiring cycle, diversifying talent pools and streamlining the process.
- Manage succession planning for critical positions to ensure business continuity.
- Develop and execute the organization’s talent acquisition strategy.
- Implement sourcing strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
- Collaborate with the HR team to facilitate smooth onboarding and integration for new hires.
- Contribute to business goals and strategy as a member of the business leadership team.
- Develop and implement an efficient volunteer management and engagement program.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the HR team.
- Develop annual HR plans and procedures.
- Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering a performance-driven culture.
- Delegate tasks to team members and measure performance.
- Conduct training for team members to maximize their potential.
- Identify and empower team members with skills to improve confidence and communication.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews.
- Maximize employee value and ensure efficient HR utilization.
- Create a pleasant working environment that inspires the team.
- Ensure the growth of the team and efficient onboarding/offboarding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of direct and relevant HR professional experience in talent management or human development leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and diversity and inclusion practices.
- Commitment to Slum2School Africa’s mission and values.
- In-depth knowledge of talent management strategies and human development methodologies.
- Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions.
- A Master's degree or relevant program management certification is an advantage.
- Membership in a recognized professional body and relevant HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR) are an advantage.
