Job Description

UCC Egypt is seeking a detail-oriented Design Coordinator to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful aesthetic and functional execution of projects by meticulously planning and overseeing all design elements.

As a Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for defining project requirements, conceptualizing designs, preparing cost estimates, and sourcing necessary materials. You will diligently review project progress and maintain close consultation with clients throughout every phase of the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating design activities across various engineering disciplines and with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment with overarching project objectives and timelines. You will manage the entire design process, from scheduling and progress tracking to resolving any design-related issues to ensure project milestones are met.

Ensuring that all design deliverables adhere to stringent quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements will be a key focus, achieved through rigorous reviews and audits. You will also maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, including all drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

Facilitating seamless collaboration and communication between internal design teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients is essential for meeting project requirements. You will manage design changes and revisions, assessing their impact on scope, schedule, and budget, and securing necessary approvals.

Identifying potential design risks and developing effective mitigation strategies to address issues and minimize project disruptions will be crucial. Furthermore, you will monitor design-related costs, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimize project budgets.

Serving as the primary point of contact for clients on design-related matters, you will provide regular updates, address concerns, and solicit valuable feedback. You will also identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and efficiency within the design coordination process to enhance project delivery and client satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring the quality of design documents and the coordination of all disciplines, as well as ensuring design deliverables meet Authority requirements. You will manage the interior design process, including RFP, bid reviews, and appointing interior designers, ensuring their deliverables are coordinated with the architectural team.

You will obtain required control samples from interior designers and hand them over to the project technical manager, alongside interior design deliverables. Coordination with procurement, estimation, and the client is vital to ensure interior design materials are approved, technically accepted, available, and value-engineered within budget.

Ensuring that the deliverables of specialty consultants are integrated into the lead consultant's design without conflict is also a key aspect of this role. You will support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies.

  • Ensures to coordinate with procurement, estimation & the client to ensure that ID material are approved, technically accepted, available and value engineered within the budget.
  • Ensures that the deliverables of the specialty consultants are integrated in the lead consultant design deliverables with no conflict.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
  • Minimum 5 year(s) working experience
  • 3 year(s) relevant working experience
  • 2 year(s) GCC experience is a plus
  • Understanding of engineering concepts and design fundamentals across various disciplines.
  • Skills in project coordination, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure efficient design processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to facilitate collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with design software and tools used in the industry for creating and reviewing technical drawings and documents.
  • Ability to analyze design challenges, propose solutions, and make informed decisions to overcome obstacles during the design process.
  • ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
