Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Switzerland is seeking a skilled Electrician to join their team in Abuja, Nigeria. This vital role supports the organization's mission by ensuring the reliable operation of all electrical and solar power systems across MSF facilities.

In this position, you will be responsible for the comprehensive installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure, including generators and solar power solutions. Your duties will involve testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to guarantee consistent power supply, while also supervising contractors and upholding stringent safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical and solar power systems in MSF facilities (offices, health centres, warehouses, guest houses).
  • Install, test, and commission generators and solar systems to ensure reliable power supply.
  • Conduct safety and performance tests on electrical systems and troubleshoot faults.
  • Supervise contractors and provide technical guidance and training on electrical safety and equipment use.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, inventories, and technical documentation.
  • Manage tools and electrical consumables, ensuring safe working conditions.

Qualifications

  • Recognized electrician diploma or technical certification.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in electrical work, including generators and solar systems.
  • Good command of English.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use relevant tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills and commitment to humanitarian principles.
