Job Description

MIRA CONSTRUCTION L.L.C is actively seeking a skilled Safety Officer to join our dedicated team on-site.

In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in implementing and enforcing the company's HSE Policy, HSE Plan, and relevant legislation. Your responsibilities will include meticulously monitoring HSE performance, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing effective measures to enhance safety standards.

You will collaborate closely with the Safety Manager and contractors to foster a strong safety culture and ensure the consistent application of corporate HSE ethics. This involves actively supervising contractors to guarantee adherence to safety measures and best practices, as well as reviewing their monthly HSE inspection reports.

Furthermore, you will lead monthly Safety meetings, set achievable targets, and distribute minutes for follow-up actions. Your role will also encompass reviewing contractor Emergency Preparedness and Response plans, Permit to Work systems, and HSE statistics, ensuring alignment with company requirements.

A key aspect of this position involves reviewing incident and accident investigation reports from contractors, communicating key learning points, and monitoring the implementation of immediate and follow-up actions to prevent reoccurrences. You will also perform other associated responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement HSE Policy, HSE Plan, and HSE legislation and other requirements.
  • Monitor HSE performance and HSE targets, and suggest measures for further improvement.
  • Liaise with Safety Manager and Contractors for the improvement & implementation of Corporate HSE Management ethics.
  • Monitor contractors to ensure the implementation of applicable Safety measures and best practices.
  • Review and Monitor Contractors' monthly HSE inspections/reports.
  • Conducting monthly Safety meetings, setting the target to achieve the outstanding issues, prepare / submit the minutes to all concerned for follow-up.
  • Review Emergency Preparedness and response, Permit to work system, HSE meetings, HSE statistics & records of the contractors according to Company requirements.
  • Review Incident/Accident investigation reports from contractors, report & communicating the learning points, and monitor the immediate action and follow-up actions to minimise/prevent re-occurrence.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent degree in environmental/loss prevention or any relevant engineering disciplines from an accredited university.
  • Recognized Health and Safety education, SARS card (training in UAE will be a plus) or NEBOSH/IOSH certificates.
  • Trakhees card holder or desire to get it.
  • At least 3+ years of construction supervision experience working as a Safety Officer.
  • Recent experience in construction supervision.
  • Preferably with experience in the UAE and with a driving license is an advantage.
