Job Description

The International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) is seeking a dedicated State Program Officer to spearhead vital public health advocacy efforts across Nigeria. This role is instrumental in driving policy changes and enhancing access to essential primary healthcare services, with a particular focus on RMNCH+N initiatives.

As a State Program Officer, you will collaborate closely with government bodies, NGOs, media professionals, and community leaders to implement strategic media campaigns and advocacy plans. Your work will directly contribute to improving health outcomes and ensuring better healthcare access for communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop evidence-based media advocacy plans targeting gaps in PHC and RMNCH+N.
  • Support the design and implementation of advocacy activities to inform and mobilize target audiences.
  • Analyze state health challenges and barriers to accessing quality PHC.
  • Identify priority areas for advocacy action.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government officials, local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders.
  • Organize forums, dialogues, and collaborations to align public health objectives.
  • Support public health campaigns using mass media, social media, and community outreach.
  • Help develop advocacy materials such as policy briefs and toolkits.
  • Review state health policies related to PHC and RMNCH+N.
  • Advocate for policy reforms through briefs, media engagement, and technical support.
  • Assist in training civil society organizations, partners, journalists, and community actors on advocacy best practices.
  • Track and evaluate the impact of advocacy efforts using program indicators and media tracking tools.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports, ensuring ethical and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • BA/BSc/HND in Public Health, Development Studies, Journalism, Mass Communication, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public health programming, media advocacy, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with primary health care or related humanitarian/NGO projects is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt to dynamic environments.
