Job Description

FRAD Foundation is seeking a qualified Protection Officer to lead child protection and GBV programming across Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza LGAs in Borno State. This leadership role is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of protection strategies and the delivery of high-quality services to vulnerable populations.

You will oversee the day-to-day implementation of child protection and GBV activities, supervise protection teams, and ensure the proper use of GBIMS+ and CPIMS+ systems. Your responsibilities will include coordinating community-based protection activities, facilitating referral pathways, and representing FRAD Foundation in key coordination forums, all while adhering to donor and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day implementation of child protection and GBV activities across Bama, Ngala, and Gwoza.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to the GBIMS/CPIMS Assistant and GBV/CP Assistant.
  • Ensure effective use of GBIMS+ and CPIMS+ systems for case management and reporting.
  • Coordinate community-based protection activities, awareness campaigns, and psychosocial support sessions.
  • Facilitate referral pathways and strengthen linkages with service providers.
  • Track progress of protection activities using FRAD’s MEAL tools.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry into GBIMS+ and CPIMS+.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for internal and donor use.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Represent FRAD Foundation in protection coordination meetings at state and LGA levels.
  • Maintain strong relationships with community leaders, women/youth groups, and local authorities.
  • Liaise with government agencies, UN bodies, and NGOs to strengthen protection networks.
  • Support delivery of training sessions on child protection, GBV prevention/response, and safeguarding.
  • Build capacity of community volunteers and staff on case management, referral pathways, and protection mainstreaming.
  • Ensure inclusive participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
  • Coordinate logistics for protection activities, including transport, venues, and materials.
  • Ensure proper documentation of activity attendance and distributions.
  • Support procurement processes in line with FRAD and donor guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child protection and GBV programming within NGOs or humanitarian settings.
  • Strong knowledge of GBIMS+ and CPIMS+ systems.
  • Experience in community mobilization, training facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage teams and coordinate multi-location activities.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Hausa and/or Kanuri is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in remote, hard-to-reach areas under challenging conditions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, and gender inclusion.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian coordination structures in Northeast Nigeria.
